On 17 and 18 November, 2016, the University College of Social and Media Culture in Toruń (WSKSiM – founded by the Redemptorists) hosted the 9th edition of its annual International Congress during which panelists from various countries address a given topic with a specific catholic focus.

This 9th edition was co-organized by the WKSKiM, the Polish Ministry of the Environment, the Science and Faith - STOQ Foundation of the Pontifical Council for Culture, under the patronage of Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski (programme in English).

For the first time, an environmental topic was addressed: ‘Catholics and the Environment – Water as the Common Good’. Among the panelists: Prof.  Jan Szyszko, Minister of the Environment of Poland; public officials from various Polish administrations; members of academic, civil society and business sectors; representatives of the Holy See and the Church in Poland. The Congress was attended by over 300 among students, professors, clergy, farmers, public officials and entrepreneurs from various regions of Poland. The Redemptorists made a significant contribution to the diffusion of the event through their TV Trwam, and their Radio Maryja, both based in Toruń.

Mr. Tebaldo Vinciguerra, Official of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, delivered the opening keynote of the Congress (text in Italian), on 17 November.
