During a busy visit to Des Moines, Iowa, 16-18 October 20013, Cardinal Peter Turkson addressed the World Food Prize (http://www.worldfoodprize.org/) and the Occupy the World Food Prize (http://occupytheworldfoodprize.com/).
On both occasions, he stressed the importance of dialogue. The Cardinal said that the Church supports using biotechnology to improve efforts to feed the “poor and afflicted” of the world but he also urged using scientific research and bio-technology with prudence, applying various ethical criteria to make sure that new developments really serve the common good.
