The Vatican Publishing House has published the book "Water. An essential element for life. "
The book, edited by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, is available in bookstores in Rome and at our offices (€ 10 pp. 121), and collects the contributions of the Holy See on the occasion of the World Water Forum of Kyoto (2003), Mexico City (2006), Istanbul (2009) and Marseille (2012).
The invitation of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace is to continue in the efforts to give priority to make safe drinking water available to everyone, and to take as a reference a wide definition of its access: regular and constant access, in sufficient quantity to allow people at least to live in dignity, and that it be accessible from the economic, legislative and factual standpoints. Moreover, its smell, taste and colour should allow it to be used effectively. Everything must be done in the most sustainable way for society, the environment and the economy.
